Platters of cupcakes, photos of smiling couples in gilt frames and cabinets filled with priceless jewelry were a few of the attractions at the Southern Charm Wedding and Special Events Expo held on Sunday.
The event aimed to introduce brides and others planning special events to the vendors located in the Jackson County area. About 24 vendors were in attendance, only three were from outside the Jackson County area.
Sponsors of the event included the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Marianna and the Jackson County Floridan.
Attendees tried samples from the caterers, looked at cards from Divine Designs & Printing, and talked shop with Michael Shores from Michael’s Toggery. Speakers covered marital topics, like creating a will. A fashion show of both wedding dresses and prom dresses wrapped up the day’s events.
Sisters Cozy and Herma Davis came to find local vendors for their late summer weddings, just a month apart.
“Daddy’s going to be broke, poor thing,” Herma said with a laugh.
Cozy had already found her caterer at the expo. The cupcakes from Something Special Catering had caught her taste buds.
“Her cupcake is the most amazing cupcake I’ve ever had,” Cozy said, still clutching the treat.
Something Special owner Brenda Woodruft asked visitors to her booth to call back or visit the store for a more detailed price estimate for their event. She said many had promised to follow up and she’s looking forward to increasing her business from two weddings a month.
Jonathan Burnett was one of the few men who came with his fiancée, Jessica Wade.
