A man was arrested on Feb. 9 after police officers discovered alleged marijuana caked on his tongue and teeth during a traffic stop.
According to a press release from the Marianna Police Department, Thomas Emanuel Sylvester was charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police stopped Sylvester in his car for an equipment violation. After speaking with Sylvester, the officers noticed a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. Sylvester was asked to get out of the car and was patted down. The car was searched and officers found a broken crack pipe and steel wool.
The officers noticed the marijuana smell was coming from Sylvester and asked him to open his mouth. Marijuana was encrusted on his teeth and tongue. Sylvester was arrested, taken to MPD for processing and then to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
