The Jackson County Drug Task Force says it arrested two county residents Friday for the possession of multiple narcotics and drug paraphernalia, as well as possession of listed chemicals.
Richard Shane Anderson, 36, of Marianna, and Naneita Millwood, 34, of Cottondale were under surveillance after allegedly purchasing pseudoephedrine cold medication illegally, according to a press release from the task force.
While investigators were tracking the purchase, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle on U.S. Highway 90 east of Marianna.
The occupants, Anderson and Millwood, were identified as the subjects of the investigation into the purchase of items used to manufacture methamphetamine.
According to the release, during the investigation it was determined that Anderson and Millwood had traveled to multiple stores in the Marianna area and purchased various items to be used in the alleged manufacture of methamphetamine.
A narcotics detection canine alerted to the odor of narcotics emitting from the vehicle the two were in during the traffic stop. During a search of that vehicle, a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana was located by investigators, according to the release.
The release states that investigators also found multiple boxes of pseudoephedrine cold medication, multiple packages of lithium batteries, and acid. All are items associated with the manufacture of meth.
Drug paraphernalia utilized to ingest narcotics and scales were also located, according to the release.
In addition, the driver, Anderson, was also found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license
Anderson was then charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of listed chemicals, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended/revoked.
Millwood was also placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of listed chemicals and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Jackson County jail to await first appearance on their charges.
The Jackson County Drug Task Force is a combined effort of the Cottondale, Graceville and Marianna police departments, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
