Graceville driver hurt in tanker wreck

A Graceville man was seriously injured in a tanker truck accident. The resulting fuel spill closed a Holmes County road for several hours Tuesday night.
Michael Dodson, 42, was driving a loaded fuel tanker north on County Road 173 around 9 p.m. in northern Holmes County when the rig failed to negotiate a sweeping curve in the road, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The International tractor trailer travelled off the road and onto the grass shoulder, where it overturned.
It came to rest on its left side, and about 500 gallons of fuel spilled out.
The leak was contained, however, and clean-up crews worked to clear the area. The road was closed for several hours, but was re-opened after the tanker was removed. The spill was confined to a small area around the crash site, officials said.
The tanker, owned by Home Oil Company of Dothan, Ala., sustained roughly $50,000 worth of damage.
Dodson was taken to Flowers Hospital in Dothan for treatment of serious injures, according to the highway patrol.
An investigation into the crash continues.
