A boil water notice issued Sunday for parts of Marianna was still in effect as of mid-afternoon Monday, after city officials received lab results from samples taken Sunday and Monday.
A water main broke Sunday, causing a drop in water pressure for certain areas. A drop in water pressures leaves the lines vulnerable to contaminants.
The boil water notice applied to areas west of Orange Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, between U.S. Highway 90 and Cedar Street, and to any other area that experienced abnormally low or no water pressure.
Officials advised residents in the affected areas to either buy bottled water or observe the boil notice for all water used for drinking or cooking.
