MILTON — Authorities say a busy Panhandle interstate has reopened after shutting down for several hours after an 18-wheeler carrying a hazardous material overturned.
The truck hauling anhydrous ammonia was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 in western Panhandle town of Milton before noon Wednesday, causing it to flip over. No spills have been reported.
The gas turns to liquid when exposed to air.
Officials say they are continuing to work to right the truck and have urged people near the area to remain indoors, turn off air conditioners, close windows and bring in their pets.
There are no reports of any injuries.
