77-year old pistol-whipped

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports a man who parked his vehicle near Graceville was pistol-whipped and robbed Wednesday.
The robber is now being sought by authorities.
According to a news release, deputies were called shortly after 1 p.m. on a report of an armed robbery that occurred on Shiloh Church Road off of Highway 2 east of Graceville.
The victim is a 77-year-old man who had stopped on Shiloh Church Road and exited his vehicle.
While standing by his truck, another man pulled up next to him and asked if his vehicle was broken down. The suspect then exited his vehicle, holding a black semi-automatic handgun, and struck the victim twice in the back of the head with the firearm.
The suspect then removed an undetermined amount of money from the victim’s pocket. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and fled the area. The victim was able to call a family member who lives nearby for assistance. The family member transported the victim to the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 160 pounds, with short braided hair and a goatee. The suspect was wearing a multicolored flannel shirt with long baggy shorts. The vehicle the robbery was driving was described as a late 1980s model, two-door Dodge convertible with the top down. It is green in color, with possible Alabama license plates.
