Marianna police arrested a motorcycle rider Wednesday after he was pulled over for alleged reckless driving and then became combative.
According to a news release from the police department, officers were dispatched to the Chipola River bridge on Lafayette Street for a motorcycle that was being driven recklessly. Officers observed a black motorcycle come across the bridge and head west into Marianna.
One officer ran a check on the bike’s registration as it turned onto a back street and into the parking lot at Winn-Dixie on Lafayette Street. The tag came back as expired.
Officers approached the rider, Christopher Wunderlich, no age or address provided in the release. According to the news release, Wunderlich was asked for his driver’s license. He provided the officer with his business card instead.
Wunderlich was again asked for his driver’s license. According to the release, Wunderlich told officers he was not going to provide it, and began to walk away.
The officers were forced to physically restrain him. Wunderlich became combative, according to the news release, and after a brief struggle was taken into custody.
A license check revealed his license was suspended, and that Wunderlich had multiple warrants.
According to the news release, Wunderlich began threatening the lives of the officers and their families while in transport to the jail.
He is charged with knowingly driving while license suspended, resisting arrest with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief of more than $1,000, and corruption by threat against a public servant.
