Marianna resident Rhonda Alday, 32, was arrested Monday evening following a traffic stop which resulted in her detention on drug charges.
According to a press release from the Marianna Police Department, Alday was stopped around 8:45 p.m. by Marianna police on Hannah Street for a faulty equipment violation.
According to the release, the officer conducted an initial background check and discovered Alday’s license was suspended.
Alday was then placed under arrest and charged with knowingly driving while license suspended.
Following the initial arrest, the Marianna Police Department’s drug canine alerted officers of possible suspicious items within the car, which gave probable cause to search the vehicle.
According to the release, during the search both marijuana and crack cocaine were found in the vehicle.
Alday was then additionally charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alday was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await her first court appearance.
