An elderly Marianna woman died Sunday in a Calhoun County crash, and two Blountstown men were seriously injured in the accident.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, 81-year-old Alice F. Yates was pronounced dead at Calhoun-Liberty Hospital after being transported there following the crash.
According to the highway patrol, Yates was driving a 1999 Dodge car north on County Road 275 when she violated the right of way at a stop sign and entered the path of a vehicle which was southbound on State Road 71.
The other vehicle, a 1995 Toyota pickup truck driven by Jermaine K. Battles, was towing a trailer and utility vehicle.
After the left side of Yates’ Dodge collided with the front of the truck, her car spun out and came to rest on a driveway culvert east of SR 71.
The truck also spun, causing the trailer and utility vehicle to separate from the truck. The trailer came to rest on the shoulder of SR 71. The utility vehicle overturned on its right side on the west shoulder. The truck came to rest on SR 71.
Battles, 37, and his passenger, 43-year-old William K. Simmons, both of Blountstown, received serious injuries in the crash, according to the highway patrol.
