From mirrors to a matching marble top bedroom set, off-white tags hung all over furniture at the late Millicent Coulliette Flemming home on Green Street Thursday.
The tags will be used to keep track of more than 200 items during an estate auction to be held Saturday, July 12, hosted by the Chipola Historic Trust.
“Anything not attached to the house” will be up for auction, according to event coordinators. The inventory list will include things such as an old-fashioned coal bin, large matching brass lamps, European paintings, living room furniture, knick-knacks and more.
“It’s a mixture of old and fairly new,” explained Linda Collins, who is taking part in preparations for the auction. “She had some really nice things.”
Collins said Flemming and her husband used to live in Europe and travel the world, so many items in the auction are from overseas.
Flemming passed away earlier this year, and her daughter Millie Flemming Moran of Indiana will be selling the home.
The Chipola Historical Trust is a non-profit organization focused on raising awareness of and preserving local history, including maintain the historic Davis-West Museum on Green Street.
Moran has donated all of the unattached contents of the Coulliette family’s home to the Trust, and money raised in the auction will benefit the Trust.
The Trust will also accept items donated by the public to be sold in the auction, with proceeds going toward the Trust.
Donations may include furniture, decorations, cars or boats but all must be in good condition and hold value.
A tax deduction letter will be provided to donors for the sale price of the donated item.
Those interested in donating items may call Pat Crisp, at 482-5276.
A 10 percent buyer’s premium will be added to the highest bid on each item, said Collins, and a one-hour preview will start at 8 a.m. before the auction begins at 9 .m. on July 12.
All items sold must be paid in full and removed from the auction site on the day of the sale.
The auction, facilitated by Ludlum Realty and Auction of Dothan, Ala., will take place at the Coulliette house, located at 2929 Green Street in Marianna.
