Grand Ridge all-stars chosen

The Grand Ridge AAA all-stars have been chosen and are reading for district play, set to begin later this month in Malone.
Coach Larry Joe Harris is optimistic about his team’s chances in district action.
“We are still a very young team, but we’ve got some kids who know the game and come ready to play every game,” he said. “Pitching is going to be the key for us. The boys have got to throw strikes because there’s no defense against a walk. If we can get the other teams to put the ball in play, we stand a good chance in the tournament.“
One of the aces on the mound will be Kade Chatwood, in his second year as a starter for AAA. Dustin Shaw also returns to the mound in his second year. Cade Hewett, John Campbell, Jonathan Lombardo, and Cade Hewett return to the mound after pitching in the second half of last season.
New to the mound, but coming on strong this year is Jesse Wayne Harris.
Rounding out the roster of players will be Rick Gable, Mason Jackson, John Hayes, Steven Mantecon and Nick Helms.
The district opens up June 19 with the bracket not yet set. Challenging Grand Ridge for the district title will be Malone, Blountstown, Bristol, Sneads, Greensboro, Altha, Quincy, Havana and Chattahoochee. The top two teams advance to the state tournament.
