Kiwanis takes win over Sneads in Ponytails action

The Dixie Softball and Ponytails were Angels were in full competition Thursday night at Optimist Park.

In the Ponytail league the Kiwanis had little trouble with the Sneads Dixie Darlings.

Breanna Willis and Reagan Oliver combined to pick up the win for the Kiwanis, allowing no hits, no runs and one walk through two innings of play.

Offensively, Oliver got things going with a single and scored on a double by Caitlyn Carpenter. A walk to Willis put runners on the corners.

Madison Gullet’s walk loaded the bases for Faith Moore’s RBI single.

Marlena Smith picked up an RBI on a walk.

With one out, Cheyenne Corbin, Elaine Pristen, Jaquira Pridgen both picked up RBI’s when they were issued a walk.

Shaniah “Strawberry” Spellman singled home another run while Brea Hayes brought in one on a walk.

Oliver singled to bring in two and Caitlyn Carpenter continued the hitting frenzy with an RBI single.

Willis drew her second walk of the night. Madison Gullet singled bringing in a run as did Faith Moore.

Marlena Smith drew another walk and Hannah Spooner recorded a single. Spellman walked and made her way around the bases on passed balls to score the final run of the game.

Dixie Ponytails return to action on Tuesday when Kiwanis travels to Bristol for a 6 p.m. start against Bristol Ponytails.

In the Dixie Softball Angels, People’s Funeral Home notched up two wins this week.

Tuesday they took a 16-2 win over Focus Credit Union, adding a 12-11 win over Optimist on Thursday.

In Thursday’s game, Taniyah Rogers took the mound for People’s Funeral Home with Optimist countering with Jakivia Hearns.

For Optimist, Rogers walked to start things off with Valerie Sims singled her home.

Lexi Basford had an RBI single to score Sims. Sohia Pereda reached on an error at first but with one out, Delaney Basford singled to score the fourth run of the inning.

A walk to Baylee Childs put runners on first and second and Kaitlyn Renegar’s walk loaded the bases. Rogers picked up an RBI on a walk.

Lexi Basford picked up her second RBI on a single. Pereda walked and Delaney Basford scored two on a fielder’s choice. Baylee Childs drew her second walk of the night.

Offensively for Optimist, Kaleigh Bruner, Yasmine Bellamy, and Carlee Wilson loaded the bases with walks for Jakivia Hearns two RBI single.

Kelsey Walters drew a walk and with two outs, Delanea Lipford had an RBI single.

In the second inning, Brown reached on an error at short with Ashley Rhodes and Sera Cooper loading the bases with walks.

Shante Holland doubled home three and Brunson doubled home another.

Bellamy and Wilson walked to lead the way for Hearns base clearing homerun. Kelsey Walters walked and Johnson singled but both were left stranded on the bases.

In Tuesday’s match up, Amy Gearhart took the mound for Focus Credit Union with People’s Funeral Home countering with Kaitlyn Renegar.

Walks to Taniyah Rogers, Valeria Sims, Sophia Pereda, Delaney Basford, Ansley Carter, Erika Pereda all drew walks in the first inning with Lexi Basford, Kaitlyn Regnegar, picking up singles.

Hannah Barfield and Alexi Nix both doubled for People’s Funeral Home.

In the final inning, Rogers, Sims walked to led off with walks to set up a three-run by Lexi Basford.

Sophia Pereda singled and Ansley Carter drew a walk to put runners at first and second.

Baylee Childs singled home two with Kaitlyn Renegar drawing a walk.

Hannah Barfield’s second double of the game scored two more runs.

For Focus Credit Union, they were three up, three down in the first inning. With two outs in the second inning, Dasharia singled and scored on Amy Gearhart’s double.

Gearhart scored when Molly Marency reached on an error at third.

In the final inning, a walk to Lea Edge and a single by Shemerida Spears were the only base runners for Focus Credit Union.

Games continue in Dixie Softball Angels on Tuesday with Optimist taking on People’s Funeral Home at 5:30 p.m., on Field 1 while Focus Credit Union will take on Fast lane Computers at 6:45 p.m., on Field 1.
