Tigers rock Rocky Bayou 59-12
The Graceville Tigers picked up their second victory of the season Friday night, rolling past the overmatched Rocky Bayou Knights 59-12.
It was Homecoming for the Tigers, and their opponent was just what the occasion called for.
The winless Knights have struggled all season, and provided little resistance Friday night.
Graceville jumped out to a 33-12 halftime lead and cruised to the easy win.
Tigers coach Todd Wertenberger said there wasn’t a lot to be taken from the game due to the weakness of the opponenent, but it was nice to get back on teh winning side nonetheless.
“We played okay for Homecoming,” the coach said. “We played a bunch of freshmen and we were able to do well with it.”
The Tigers emptied the bench early in the game, giving their young players ample opportunities for game action.
Freshman Rasheed Campbell put the exclamation point on the win with an 80-yard interception return touchdown on the final play of the game.
Graceville (2-6, 1-2 in district play), will next play host to arch rival Cottondale Nov. 6 in a game that — for the first time in four years, will not have any playoff implications.
