Summer hoops league under way

Cottondale came out on top in a match up against Graceville Monday during the first day of summer high school ball league action.

Jackson County high schools’ summer basketball league tipped off Monday, with three county teams in action at Marianna High School playing a total of four one-hour games.
In the 4 p.m. matchup, Graceville’s new head coach made his varsity coaching debut with a 60-28 loss to the experienced and seasoned Chipley Tigers.
Chipley showed no mercy in their second game as they handed Sneads a 56-35 loss, letting the fans know they would be a force to be reckoned with come the regular season.
In Game Three, it was a pair of county teams matching up, with experienced head coach Chris Obert leading his Cottondale Hornets to a 64-39 defeat of the Graceville Tigers.
Two Jackson County teams were also on the court for the final game of the night, with Cottondale picking up their second win with a 55-35 victory over Sneads.
Games were scheduled to continue Tuesday night at Marianna High School. Results of those games were not available at press time.
