MMS rolls by GRMS

The Marianna Middle School Bullpups basketball team hosted the Grand Ridge Indians Monday afternoon in their newly renovated gym in hopes of avenging an earlier season loss.
They would not be disappointed, as the “A” team took a 35-7 victory with the “B” team winning 36-7.
In the “B” game, the Bullpups jumped on the Indians early by posting eight points in the first quarter while allowing only two by the Indians.
In the second quarter, it was the Indians with a 3-2 advantage making it a 10-5 game at the half.
The Bullpups hit the court running in the third quarter, putting up 12 points while holding the Indians to two.
In the final quarter it was a 9-1 Bullpup advantage to secure the win.
Marianna was led in scoring by Torez Hall with 10 points, followed by Demarcus Staley with seven points.
Brian Cox led the Indians with three points.
In the “A” game, Marianna scored 11 points in the first quarter with Grand Ridge putting up four points.
Defense set in for the second period of play with a 4-2 edge going to Marianna to make it a 15-6 game midway through the game.
Following the break, Marianna recorded 15 points in the third quarter while shutting out the Indians.
Grand Ridge held Marianna to four points in the final quarter and answered with one shot from the line.
The Indians were led in scoring by Pittman with six points.
Anfernee Massaline led the Bullpups with 12 points, followed by Alonze Bailey with eight points.
The Bullpups were scheduled to host Blountstown Tuesday evening.
Results of those games were not available at press time.
