Marianna sweeps Bay High

The Marianna High School Lady Bulldogs volleyball team hit the road last Thursday and returned with a two-match sweep of the Lady Bay High Tornados.  The varsity won in four games, while the junior varsity won two out of three.

In varsity action, the Lady Bulldogs dropped the first game, 25-21, before taking three straight to win the match, 25-17, 25-22, and 25-22. 

The Lady Dogs’ Cayce Griffin had 27 service points with nine aces, eight attacks and two kills. On the board with 15 service points and four aces was Michelle Bassin, followed by Meghan Hinson with 13 serves and four aces.  Eron Milton picked up 12 serves and two aces, followed by Tiffany Lawrence with ten service points.  Sharhae Williams lead in attacks, with 24 attacks and five kills, followed by Bassin with 19 spikes and six kills.  Hinson was on the board with 15 spikes and four kills, with Milton picking up four attacks and two kills.  Bassin led the Lady Bulldogs in assists with 38; Hinson recorded 29.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Bulldogs fell 25-22 in Game One before picking up a 25-14 win in the second game and sealing the match win with a 15-2 victory in the third.  Hannah Shouppe led the team with 15 service points and seven aces, followed by Taylor Blount with 11 service points and five aces.  Christina Wynn led the team defensively with seven kills.

The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to play in Blountstown on Monday evening. Results of that game were not available at press time.
