The Marianna High School Lady Bulldogs volleyball team traveled to Panama City this weekend, to participate in the 2009 Panhandle Fall Volleyball Classic at Mosley High School. The tournament proved to be a positive for the Lady Bulldogs, who have struggled early in the season, going 0-3 in their first three matches.

Marianna was placed in the silver division of 12 teams with their first match coming against Mosley. After a two-game loss to the Lady Dolphins, Marianna defeated Vernon in three straight games to take three of five game matches, and moved on to face Walton.

Marianna defeated Walton in two games, giving them a second place finish in their pool.

The second-place spot pitted the Lady Bulldogs against Rutherford High School, where they played the best of five, winning in three straight games. With the win, Marianna took the fifth place out of the 12 teams in the silver division.

On an individual note, Eron Milton was named MVP of the tournament, an award voted on by the opposing coaches in the pool play. Eron is a junior and is in her third year of volleyball under coach Belinda Christopher.
