Jackson County high schools’ summer basketball league tipped off Monday, with three county teams in action at Marianna High School playing a total of four one-hour games.

Firefighters and others concerned about needs associated with fire service in Jackson County will form a strategic planning group to address money, equipment, training and other issues.

Just before 1 p.m., officials re-opened the Jackson County Courthouse.  A suspicious white powder found there early this morning was determined to be non-threatening, officials said.
