The Jackson County School Board has allotted time to a Tallahassee attorney requesting to come before the board on behalf of the families of several children who were present when a Marianna Middle School teacher made a racial slur in class.

The investigation involving a Marianna High School teacher accused of using a racial slur has ended.

A large crowd of people walked out of the Jackson County School Board office in Marianna disappointed by the board’s decision to uphold disciplinary actions against former Marianna Middle School teacher Greg Howard.

An investigation is under way to determine whether a Marianna High School teacher used a racial slur and cursed in the classroom as alleged by a parent in a letter to Jackson County Superintendent of Schools Danny Sims.

Since it was first reported in the Jackson County Floridan Thursday, the racial slur incident and subsequent suspension of Marianna Middle School teacher Greg Howard has been heavily discussed among residents and media sources all over the nation.

The Jackson County School Board has taken action against a teacher who apparently made racial commentary on presidential candidate Barack Obama.

A Marianna Middle School teacher was suspended after being accused of making “racially inappropriate comments,” according to a Jackson County School District official.
