TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida House Speaker Ray Sansom has hired a prominent criminal defense attorney to represent him in possible state and federal investigations.
Tallahassee lawyer Peter Antonacci said Friday he will represent Sansom, R-Destin.
Sansom’s faces a possible grand jury indictment for taking a lucrative job at Northwest Florida State College, a school he had channeled more than $25 million to as head of House budget negotiations.
Sansom has already hired a well-known Tallahassee attorney, Richard Coates, to handle an ethics complaint against him. Speaking to newspaper reporters and editors earlier this week Sansom said he is confident he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
