Three Jackson County residents were arrested Saturday, two of them for alleged drug offenses and one for resisting an officer.
According to a news release from the Jackson County Drug Task Force, Michael Fitzgerald Jackson, 31, was arrested during a traffic stop on an outstanding warrant for the sale of cocaine.
In a search of his residence at 5543 Prairieview Road, officers seized money, drugs and weapons, along with seven vehicles, according to the news release.
Jackson was booked into the Jackson County jail to await first appearance. He later posted bond and was released.
During Jackson’s arrest, officials say his father-in-law, Willie Hall, drove to the traffic stop in a reckless manner and got out of the car. Hall allegedly began shouting obscenities at officers, threatening their safety and impeding their investigation, according to the news release.
After Halle refused to leave despite several commands to do so, officers attempted to arrest him but met resistance. Hall allegedly struggled with officers before finally being placed in handcuffs. He was charged with resisting an officer without violence and taken to the Jackson County jail to await first appearance. He was later released on his own recognizance, with no bond posted.
On Saturday, officials also arrested Gianna R. Simmons, 39, of 4240 Vallie Road in Marianna. Reportedly an associate of Jackson, warrants had been issued for her arrest. She was charged with the sale of cocaine. Authorities allege Simmons had about $1,000 worth of crack cocaine and multiple devices used to smoke crack cocaine when she was arrested.
In addition to the outstanding warrant, Simmons is additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her bond was set at $47,500 and she was still in jail as of late Monday.
