Jackson County deputies had to venture into a swamp Monday night to capture a suspect who ran as they attempted to arrest him on a warrant.
The officers also discovered a makeshift meth lab in a camper where he and another wanted person were living off Hansford Road in the Alliance community south of Cypress.
According to a press release from the Jackson County Drug Task Force, the incident began when officers approached the camper to serve warrants on Jamie Lynn Hill and Shari Anne Ratliff.
The camper was parked at the edge of some property connected to a person known to Hill.
Ratliff was arrested without incident on warrants for violation of probation and worthless checks. She is now additionally charged with the attempted manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of listed chemicals, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jamie Lynn Hill was arrested on an active warrant for driving with a suspended license, and now faces additional charges for the attempted manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of listed chemicals, and resisting arrest without violence.
According to the press release, Hill ran into a wooded swamp near the campsite when officers closed in on the camper.
Task force investigators taking inventory of the camper reported finding “ingredients and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine” and a small amount of methamphetamine and unspecified drug paraphernalia.
Canine teams from Apalachee and Jackson Correctional Institutions assisted deputies in their search for Hill.
