A Sneads woman stands accused of stealing more than $160,000 from a former employer over the course of two years.
Elizabeth Glisson, 43, is charged with grand theft, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.
A former accounts payable clerk for Quincy Farms, a mushroom operation, Glisson allegedly diverted money into her personal account. She also allegedly used the company’s Sams Club Credit Card for unauthorized purchases, according to the charge sheet.
The 64 Sam’s Club purchases she allegedly made totaled $18,7022, authorities said. Of the 64, 61 of the purchases were made in Leon, Jackson and Gadsden counties between February 2007 and February 2008, and totalled $17,829, according to the affidavit.
Two of the other three purchases were allegedly made in Dothan, Ala. and totalled $600. The third was reportedly made in Black River Falls, Wis., and totalled $272.
Authorities allege that Glisson wrote more than 50 company checks to herself between January 2007 and May 2008, totalling $141,886.
Quincy Farms business checks are made in triplicate. According to authorities, in 50 cases Glisson allegedly made original company checks payable to her personal bank and credit accounts. But on the duplicates kept in office records, she allegedly put the names of legitimate vendors who did business with the company.
According to authorities, Glisson’s personal credit and banking accounts were subpoenaed in the course of the investigation. After a review of the accounts, authorities concluded that “it was obvious that Glisson did divert money from Quincy Farm’s bank account to her personal credit and bank accounts,” the affidavit stated.
The checking account discrepancies were discovered in an internal audit undertaken after the fraudulent credit card activity was discovered.
In the affidavit, authorities say that for more than a year, Glisson had the credit card company mail invoices to the business address in care of an alias, Elizabeth Chesi, but later had them sent to her personal address in Sneads, still bearing the name of Quincy Farms in care of Elizabeth Chesi. Investigators also cited a second alias name, Elizabeth Cheshire, that Glisson allegedly used.
The personal address involved is 7922 D’Alemberte Road in Sneads, the same address listed as her place of residence in the Jackson County jail docket.
She was taken into custody by Sneads Police Chief Burt McAlpin on behalf of neighboring Gadsden County.
She later posted bond, which was set at $50,000, and was released to await further action in the case.
A person answering the telephone at Glisson’s listed address identified herself as Elizabeth Glisson and declined to comment on the matter.

Yet another piece of uplifting news reported by the Jackson County Floridan. Not surprisingly, the Tallahassee Democrat beat the Floridan to this story, reporting it the day after it broke without Ms. Glisson’s home address (more appropriate, I think). A day late and a dollar short, but not such a surprise from a sleepy little newspaper in a sleepy little county. Jackson County’s slow pace and Christian values are beloved by its residents. Why is it then, that the members of this Christian community take such joy in exploiting the downfall of others for their own personal entertainment? As Christians, we are supposed to work tirelessly to return wayward sheep to the fold, not celebrate their loss. Too many members of this community flaunt their “faith” like a shiny diamond ring, hoping to gain social standing or advantage over their neighbor. True believers in Jackson County should not stand aside while Christianity is misused as a private club from which its members can vilify and cast judgment on others. So many people claim to have a strong faith, but instead of using it for good, as God intended, they choose to spread messages of hate. Why do we “whisper” about the evil misdeeds of others while sitting in the pew dressed in our Sunday best, all the while conveniently ignoring our own transgressions. People here love to quote scripture. Instead of regurgitating it, let us try to seek the actual meaning behind the word:
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Matthew 23: 27-28
If you are a professed Christian in Jackson County, take spiritual stock of yourself. Are your words and actions representative of your beliefs? Do they honor God; your family; your community? Do you show compassion and tolerance? Are you a Christian . . . even when it is difficult or inconvenient? WWJD? We know what He would do. He surrounded Himself with the sinful and downtrodden. Prostitutes, lepers, and yes, even thieves. I leave you with this final thought:
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Galatians 6:1
Ever heard of “Don’t shoot the messenger”? D. Buckhalter didn’t make this stuff up. Neither did the other staffers who contributed to this report. This information came directly from FDLE. Now, with supoenaed bank records in hand, FDLE didn’t make this stuff up either. ggirl05, why don’t you direct your animosity at FDLE? Or maybe Quincy Farms?
Just don’t shoot the messenger, unless DB was on all those expensive hunting trips with you.
She must be a CONservative, only used GOD’s name when she got caught like S.C. gov sanford
Don’t go to squalling now Liz, just ‘woman up’, and go on and pay the fiddler.
And your comment about “between me, God, and the authorities” is ridiculous. You are not a “Victim” you have been charged with a crime. That makes you a “Defendent”. You will have your day in court to fight these allegations, and thank god you live in a country that will at least hear whatever pathetic excuse that you may have. Mr. HESS, please nail this lady.
ggirl, I think you are so offended by this article because this is a famliy member of yours. so dont be upset now that you all have gotten caught, you enjoyed the money then, now you all must face the law now. Just be prepared to pay it while she face prison. Debra keep expose law breakers ans reporting whatever the law allows you to.
Ms. Glisson is obviously a very disturbed individual. I appreciate the power of the press and free speech. This article does not resort to “personal” attacks, it merely reports what has been released by reliable, trackable, and verifiable sources. This is not a tabloid. As a citizen of Jackson Co., I find such articles as useful tools in exposing the very people that we do business with daily. Ms. Glisson is angry that she did this to herself. What did she expect? You think you will fly quitely under the radar when you get arrested for stealing from a company that has laid people off, and made cut backs due to a declining economy. There is no difference between her greedy actions and what these millionaire CEO’s on wall street get accused of daily. Stealing while others suffer. Unbelievably selfish. I hope she is made as an example. Not polishing any halo’s, but this Glisson lady is an idiot. She better make nice with the Floridan, as I think thats the only paper available at JCI.
I do believe that I did give you a comment, you just chose not to write it! You wrote what you wanted to, and made it look just how you wanted it to. What are your sales down? Are you looking for a raise? Do you go to church? If so maybe you need to go to the altar and polish that halo that you are wearing. Do you have children? Do they know what your so called job is? It is too further hurt people, to embarras their children. What happened to me is between me, God, and the authorities, and the last time I checked you don’t fall under any of those. I am not the only person, that you and your fellow reporters have caused more stress too. It is all about a great story. Maybe this mullet wrapper will be the next one to go out of business.
Way to go Buckhalter, the paper always has a way to humilate the victim and families. Does this make you feel good inside. Do you think that you are a good reporter? God help you if anyone finds any dirt about you, your family or your fellow workers. I guess that is what you get paid to do is further hurt people. Do you think that they aren’t going through enough. It isn’t just with this article, it is every article. I know several people that are willing to not buy your mullet wrapper, because that is all that it is worth is wrapping dead fish. Sleep well, and laugh hard, and polish that halo!
