A Blountstown man was killed and five others seriously injured in a Calhoun County traffic crash Saturday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, 19-year-old Jose Cruz-Ramirez was taken to Calhoun-Liberty Hospital following the crash, but he did not survive.
He was a passenger in a Ford SUV driven by fellow Blountstown resident Sergio Espinoza, 40, who was critically injured in the 5:30 p.m. accident.
Highway patrol reports say James L. White Jr., 28, was southbound on State Road 71 below Blountstown when the Ford F150 truck he was driving traveled on the shoulder. White over-corrected and the truck started spinning out of control, according to the highway patrol.
The vehicle entered the northbound lane and traveled into the path of Espinoza’s vehicle.
The left side of White’s vehicle collided with the front of Espinoza’s, and both came to rest on SR 71, highway patrol reported.
White, of Leesburg, Ga., was seriously injured.
Three other passengers in the Espinoza vehicle were critically injured.
They were listed as 32-year-old Luis Sascala, 26-year-old Toribio Sascala and 53-year-old Carlos Garcia-Gabriel, all of Blounstown.
