Bascom man charged after failing to stop

A 19-year-old Bascom resident was charged late Thursday after he failed to stop for a Marianna police officer.
A news release from the Marianna Police Department states an officer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Anthony Cole, of 6694 Wolf Pond Road, at 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Lafayette Street near Russ Street.
According to the news release, the officer activated his emergency lights but the vehicle failed to stop, accelerating instead.
A pursuit ensued and continued north of Jefferson Street until the vehicle come to a stop just north of Kelson Avenue, as other officers arrived to assist, according to police.
Cole was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the county jail to await his first court appearance.
