The doors opened Wednesday on a new business in the town of Malone. Subway franchisees Staci and Gary Clark and Gary’s cousin Allen Clark opened their 12th area Subway at 10 a.m. at the corner of Highway 2 and State Road 71.
John Alter, one of several community supporters working to revitalize Malone, was their first customer. Alter and others involved in the revitalization effort have been talking with the Clarks since mid-2004 about opening up shop in town.
Alter said he’s excited to see one of the town’s long-closed storefronts back in use.
The business brings two full-time jobs into Malone, along with eight to 10 part-time positions. The store will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m
The company, operating under the name GALO Enterprises, also has Subways in Marianna, Chattahoochee, Cottondale, Chipley, Graceville, Freeport, Bonifay, and two in Dothan, Ala.
