Jackson County School Board clarifies dress code policy item

Attention Jackson County students and parents: Schools that are requiring shirts to be tucked in have clarified that shirts such as polos are not an exception to the rule.
According to Marianna High School Principal Randy Ward, the female models in the “Are You Up to Code?” feature in the Sunday, July 27 edition of the Jackson County Floridan were actually in violation of the dress code.
One model wore a polo style shirt with another shirt tucked in underneath it. The other wore a similar ensemble, with a T-shirt on the outside and another shirt underneath it tucked in.
Ward said the young women’s outer shirts should have been tucked in.
“When we said that students may wear a button-up or zip- up blouse over another tucked in shirt, we did not mean shirts such as polos or T-shirts,” explained Ward. “Students should wear a regular shirt , not an under shirt, tucked in; and may wear a blouse or jacket with full buttons (or a zipper) down the front, open, sort of as a jacket.”
