A Jackson County man, allegedly on the run from local authorities since February, was arrested in Chipley on multiple warrants.
According to a press release from the Chipley Police Department, Norris Wynn was a passenger in a vehicle which was pulled over for an unspecified traffic infraction Thursday
According to Chipley police, Wynn gave a false name during that incident. In addition, Chipley was found to be in possession of a large quantity of marijuana, along with scales and baggies, according to Chipley police.
After Wynn was taken to the Washington County jail, authorities allegedly also discovered he had crack cocaine in his jacket pocket.
Chipley police charged him with possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, resisting an officer without violence, and the introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.
Authorities in Jackson County say Wynn jumped from a rolling Chevrolet Tahoe and went on the run in mid-February as deputies were pursuing the vehicle.
Deputies reported that they had seen Wynn get into the vehicle with two other men in Jacob and pursued it, knowing Wynn was wanted on a warrant related to drug sales.
The pursuit began on Magnolia Road in Jacob, continued west on Highway 162, and then onto Woodrest. There, with the vehicle still moving, Wynn allegedly jumped out and ran into nearby woods.
The driver and another passenger, both of Cottonwood, Ala., stayed in the Tahoe and were arrested near Cottondale on drug charges.
The warrants for Wynn from Jackson County included eight drug-related charges, two counts of resisting an officer without violence, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections Web site, Wynn served time in prison on drug offenses, resisting and escape.
