Dog, deputies uncover drugs, equipment in Vernon

Washington County deputies have charged a man with several drug-related charges after a traffic stop Friday afternoon in Vernon.

Larry Charles Jones, 45, was arrested after the sheriff’s office K-9 alerted them to something in the vehicle. A search of vehicle revealed a variety of equipment and drugs, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Jones was arrested and charged with possession of narcotic equipment, possession of listed chemicals, possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance without prescription. Jones is being held at the Washington County Jail on a $22,500 bond,  according to the sheriff’s office news release.

One arrested after high-speed chase

In other news from Washington County, Jason Ross Jordan, 24, Bonifay, led officers on a high-speed chase.
Jordan eventually pulled in at a residence and ran into a wooded area.

A K-9-led tracking unit from the sheriff’s office eventually found Jordan in another residence. He was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
