Traffic was rerouted briefly in Cypress after this vehicle plowed into and displaced some guide wires

Traffic was briefly detoured around a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 90 in Cypress Wednesday.
One of the two trucks involved crashed into a set of guide wires. The force of the impact snapped a power pole and the wires it supported fell onto the road.
A portion of the wires wound up inside the truck’s hood, as well.
According to trooper W. W. Peterson’s initial report, a white Dodge pick-up driven by Cypress resident Abraham Avritt was eastbound on U.S. 90 when it slowed to make a right turn at or near the intersection with Church Street.
Avritt’s vehicle was rear-ended by a black Ford truck which failed to slow, the trooper said.
The Ford, driven by Blountstown resident Scott Howell, continued traveling east after impact and veered into the power guide lines.
Avritt was taken to Jackson Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. His truck was later driven from the scene by a family member. Howell was not hurt. The truck he was driving had to be towed from the scene.
Because of safety concerns, traffic was routed away from the guide wires until the roadway could be cleared.
