The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department has released the names of two victims of a double homicide last week.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime lab in Pensacola worked with the Calhoun County Medical Examiner’s office to compare fingerprints of the victims to two known prints. The crime lab confirmed that the victims were Frederick W. Marshall, 66 and Lori Lee Adams, 46.
Calhoun Sheriff David Tatum said there are no new revelations in the case, but the identification did bring closure to that phase of the investigation. Authorities found Marshall and Adams dead on June 18 in their house in Calhoun County. They were found lying face up in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor.
“You see these types of things you always think it’s so senseless and unnecessary and regrettable that it even escalated to that point,” Tatum said.
Investigators said evidence suggests the pair stabbed each other to death during an altercation.
“It’s not too unusual to work a murder-suicide,” Tatum said. “This was different in the fact that … both of the persons used a knife on the other, and both of them subsequently died as a result of the knife wounds.”
Authorities were notified by one of the residents’ sons, who came to check on his mother and found the bodies. According to investigators, the bodies had been there for more than a week.
