A Jackson County man turned himself in Thursday morning to face multiple charges related to an alleged domestic incident on his 40th birthday Wednesday evening.

Christopher W. Frantantoni, of Compass Lake in the Hills, is accused of cutting his 15-year-old daughter with a knife, in addition to other offenses.

He is charged with child abuse, felony battery-domestic violence and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a child.

According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call just before 9 p.m. Wednesday from someone reporting that Frantantoni had allegedly beaten his wife and cut his 15-year-old daughter.

Authorities allege that the family spent the day on Compass Lake and that Frantantoni became angry with his wife while they were later traveling on Vancouver Road.

Frantantoni stopped the vehicle and allegedly struck his wife with his hands, authorities reported. According to the press release, he then “turned his anger toward his 15-year-old daughter, who was sitting in the back seat. During the altercation with the daughter, a knife was produced and (she) sustained a laceration over her right temple area.”

Frantantoni then got out of the vehicle and ran, according to the sheriff’s office.

Canine tracking dogs from Jackson and Apalachee Correctional facilities were deployed to help search for him, but could not lead deputies to the suspect.

Frantantoni presented himself at the sheriff’s office around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
