Power lines were pulled out of place by a City of Marianna vehicle Wednesday, causing power outages and phone line disruption for several locations in downtown Marianna.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m., when the city’s jet truck became caught on wires at the intersection of Jackson and Jefferson streets.
According to Marianna police, the rotatable back portion of the jet truck accidentally turned upward, catching the wires as the driver unknowingly continued through the intersection.
As a result, lines on the south side of Jackson were brought down from the intersection with Jefferson, down to Caledonia Street.
Businesses affected by the outage included SunTrust Bank, Milton Insurance and Chipola Apartments.
The Jackson County Courthouse was also affected, going without power for about 30 minutes, as well as going for an undetermined time without phone service.
Representatives with Embarq could not be immediately reached for comment.
