2 charged in Cypress burglary

A burglary in Cypress has resulted in the arrest of two men, one from Malone and another from Marianna.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a burglary occurred Friday at 2952 Dellwood Cypress Road during which several electronic devices, including tools and a flat screen television and computer were taken from the residence.
On Tuesday, information was obtained that gave investigators probable cause to obtain arrest warrants for Tony Michael Russ, 25, of 5120 Eighth St., Malone, and David Ralph Carpenter, 49, of 5155 Lynch Dr., Marianna, according to the sheriff’s office.
Russ and Carpenter were located that same day and arrested on charges of burglary of a residence, grand theft and dealing in stolen property, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Wednesday.
The two defendants were transported to the sheriff’s office and statements were obtained that lead investigators to the recovery of some of the property. according to the release. At least one of the defendants is believed to be involved in other cases and further charges are expected, the sheriff’s office said.
Both men were booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
According to Jackson County court records, Russ was released on a surety bond April 20, having been incarcerated April 17 charges of driving while his license was suspended or revoked and resisting without violence.
At the time of the April 17 arrest, Russ was being sought by law enforcement for charges of resisting arrest, and assault on a law enforcement officer from an April 7 incident.
Court records show that Russ has a June 2 date in court for the April 17 charges, and the April 7 case was deferred to county court, where he pleaded out and the case was closed.
Complete records of that case were not available at press time.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections Web site, Russ was released from the Indian River Correctional Institution in 2003 following his conviction for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement officers in a July 2000 incident, and felony battery in a December 2000 incident.
