Mother, aunt charged in infant’s disappearance
At a news conference Thursday morning Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock announced charges against the mother and aunt of 7-month-old Shannon Lea Dedrick. The announcement came five days after Shannon was reported missing and just hours after she was found alive. Sheriff Haddock says the investigation was like an old southern saying, it was like pulling hen’s teeth. The case was solved through grunt work by all law enforcement involved.
City courts customers with extra incentives
Marianna City Commissioners on Tuesday voted to increase the monetary incentive for residents who will convert from electrically-powered major appliances and go instead on the city’s natural gas system.

Search continues for missing child
Washington County authorities say they have a “a person of suspicion” in the Saturday disappearance of a baby from her home in Chipley. The name of the suspect was not released, however, and no one had been arrested as of late Monday.
