Miss Shelly Lyn Mixson of Atlanta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johns Virgil Mixson, married Mr. Jeffrey Alan Tacca of Atlanta in a 6 o’clock Christian, double-ring ceremony on May 31, 2009, at the Ida Cason Memorial Chapel in Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, Ga., with the Rev. Dr. Don Odom officiating. The bride was given away by her father, Mr. Johns Virgil Mixson.
The bride wore an off-white charmeuse v-neck halter dress with a ruched surplice bodice and a fitted dropped waistline with embroidered pearls, sequins and crystals. The train featured a godet chapel train adorned with beaded embroidered appliqué. The diamond white finger tip sheer silk double veil was accented with a Swarovski comb. The bride’s bouquet was hydrangeas, yellow roses, red spray roses and blue delphinium backed with green hydrangea and white lilies.
Mrs. Trina Wheeler of Atlanta, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Mr. Daniel Tacca of Hauppauge, N.Y., served as best man. Ushers were Mr. Flo Fernandez and Mr. Tim Beach of McCordsvile, Ind.
The wedding was directed by Mrs. Sarah Odom. Mrs. Debbie Chambliss and Mr. Mario Tacca served as organists. Mrs. Mary Mancini Tacca sang “Ave Maria” by Shubert and the traditional “The Wedding Song“.
Following the wedding, guests were invited to an outdoor lawn gathering with hors d’oeuvres at the Callaway Lodge and Spa Ironwood Courtyard, while awaiting the bride and groom. The reception followed at the Callaway Lodge and Spa Southern Pines Room with a plated dinner. The reception was highlighted with entertainment by the groom’s father, Mario Tacca, on the accordion, and Mary Mancini Tacca singing several selections. The band, Jama, from Atlanta, also played throughout the evening.
Following a honeymoon trip to Bermuda, the newlyweds are residing in Atlanta. The bride is self- employed as a dentist in Symrna, Ga. The groom is self-employed as a real estate investor and manager.
