With the start of the 2009-2010 soccer season approaching, Marianna High School coach Garyn Waller has his squad readying for the new season with summer games against Panhandle teams, to get a preview of what he can expect.

Saturday, the Bulldogs traveled to Port St. Joe to take on Franklin County. Waller could not have been more pleased, as his team dealt Franklin County an 8-0 shutout.

First to notch a goal for the summer games was Paul Gochenaur, a player Waller has huge expectations from for the next two years.

Senior Preston Skipper was the next to find the back of the net, giving the ‘Dawgs a 2-0 lead. Senior Alton Stone picked up an assist on a goal by Jay Mason for the third goal of the game, with senior Sammy Muniz slamming one from the right side to make it a 4-0 game just before the water break in the first half of play.

Immediately following the water break, Ryan Rudd took it to the net on an assist from Michael Mader.

Zac Davis got an assist on a goal by Sammy Muniz, with Preston Skipper ending the game on two shots, one to the corner, with the final a straight ahead shot. Senior goalie Nick Harris had a great game with five saves, behind a defense that did a great job defending the ball.

Sunday, the ‘Dawgs traveled to Panama City to take on the always talented and tough Mosley Dolphins, and walked away with a 3-1 loss — a victory in the eyes of the Bulldogs.

Mosley scored first, but the ‘Dawgs rallied back with a shot by Jay Mason on an assist by Brandon Massengill.

The Dolphins picked up two more goals before the half to make it a 3-1 game. The Bulldog defensive, led by goalie Nick Harris, did their job and shut out the Dolphins in the second half of play. Harris recorded 11 saves on the day.

The Bulldogs will mix it up with some co-ed action Tuesday at home against the Malone Tigers.

Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
