Two Jackson County residents were among three people arrested earlier this month after Chipley police moved in on a suspected meth lab.

According to a news release from the Chipley Police Department issued Monday, officers went to a motel in Chipley after being tipped off about possible illegal activity taking place there.

After a period of surveillance, officers moved in and found chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine in one of the motel rooms being watched by police.

As a result, Martha Mayes of Cottondale, Verland Ball of Panama City, and Robert Clements of Alford were all arrested on charges of unlawful possession of listed chemicals, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer without violence and on unspecified outstanding warrants.

The arrest took place June 5, according to the news release.

A spokesperson for the Chipley Police Department said Monday the department only just now got around to releasing the information.
