Jackson County schools may get new principals

The Jackson County School District has released its proposed administrative staffing plans, which will be presented to the school board on Tuesday, June 16.
If that list is approved by the board, about half of the school district’s principals and assistant principals would be moved to different schools in the coming school year.
The following are the proposed locations for each principal and assistant principal. Not all schools will have an assistant principal.
Adult Education — Beth Westmoreland, principal.
Cottondale Elementary — Diane Long, principal.
Cottondale High — Danny Sims, principal; Jennifer See, assistant principal.
Golson Annex — Patricia Hall, administrator.
Golson Elementary — Don Wilson, principal.
Graceville Elementary — Bobbie Mixson, principal. Petey Sims to take over as principal, after Mixson retires.
Graceville High —  Chris Franklin, principal; Julie Burdeshaw, assistant principal.
Grand Ridge School — Randy Ward, principal; Phyllis Daniels, assistant principal.
Hope School — Sharon Macaluso, principal.
Jackson Alternative School — Jeff Bryant, principal.
Jackson County School at Sunland — Bryan Johnson, principal.
Malone School — Linda Hall, principal; John Doug Powell, assistant principal.
Marianna High — Mary Sue Neves, principal; Clarence Bellamy, assistant principal; Charles Williams, assistant principal.
Marianna Middle — Gayle Westbrook, principal; Eddie Ellis, assistant principal; Sue Ann Tharp, assistant principal.
Riverside Elementary — John Ellerbee, principal; Bob Burke, assistant principal.
Sneads Elementary — Cheryl McDaniel, principal.
Sneads High — Laurence Pender, principal; Faye Parker, assistant principal.
The school board meets in the district office on Green Street on Tuesday, June 16, at 4 p.m.
Other items on the agenda include the recognition of students from Marianna High School who placed in the state competition for the Technology Student Association; more than a dozen contracts between the school district and other entities; and the approval of several grants.
Also on the agenda is the proposed price increase for school breakfast and lunch over the next five years.
The board will also vote on construction plans, including projects for Hope School and Cottondale High School.
