In the Friday crash, 25-year-old Adrienne Denita Rogers was westbound on Interstate 10 during rainy weather when the 2007 Nissan Maxima she was driving left the road. It traveled onto the shoulder before striking several trees, according Florida Highway Patrol reports.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by Leon County emergency crews. A traffic homicide investigation is pending in that case.
In the Sunday accident, 79-year-old Cecilla Gagnon of Deming, N.M. was walking along the sidewalk in the Interstate 10 rest area near Cottondale when an airborne set of tires struck her. The tires had separated from a trailer being towed by a semi-truck.
The Kenworth semi-truck was westbound on Interstate 10 when the left rear set of tires on the trailer it was towing separated from the front axle on the right side. The tires traveled into the rest area and struck Gagnon, who died at the scene.
